Today we are featuring The Food Pantries of the Capital District, which services Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. They have increased the amount of food delivered across these four counties by about 50% in response to recent community need.

Their Food Access Referral Line, 518-458-1167 ext. 108, is the best resource for those that find themselves in need of help. This program connects people with their nearest food pantry and basic needs resources.

At Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, we have been working on a project called The Spirit of the Capital Region (SOTCR). It’s a video series featuring the many local businesses, events, and charities that those in our area can be proud of. We were set to premiere the series, but due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to take the project in a different direction. It’s Friday, May 1st. My name is Emily, I work for Martin, Harding & Mazzotti and this is the Spirit of the Capital Region: Social Distancing Edition.

Today we are featuring The Food Pantries for the Capital District, serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties.

Throughout this crisis, the majority of local food pantries have remained open and many continue to face a significant rise in demand.

The executive director at The Food Pantries for the Capital District tells us they have expanded their capacity and increased the amount of food delivered across their four-county footprint by approximately 50% in response to community need.

They say their Food Access Referral Line, shown here, is the best resource for those that find themselves in need of help.

This program connects people with their nearest food pantry and basic needs resources.

Since the crisis they have experienced almost quadruple the volume of calls seeking food assistance.

The Food Pantries are still seeking donations and volunteers. Please visit thefoodpantries.org to learn how to help, and to find out the most-needed items for donation.
