Project Description

Sonia Uddin

My name is Sonia Uddin. I’m an attorney at Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, in the workers’ compensation department. We have a huge team and without our team, we really wouldn’t be able to make anything happen. And so, we’re really lucky like that. When we have a workers’ compensation case, sometimes when we are talking to clients, other issues may pop up and we think, “Well, maybe that’s something that another attorney in another department might be interested in.” So, you know, we refer them over to a different department. And we have so many different paralegals who are able to help clients navigate any questions or concerns that they have on a daily basis and work with us. And we’re really fortunate like that, yeah.

I think I was surprised by maybe how tight-knit everyone works here is. You know, I kind of come from a place where I really didn’t expect that because that’s not really any type of environment that I worked in before. But, you know, you really get to know people that you work with and your colleagues. And you care about them and they care about you and what’s going on with your life. And it’s a really great atmosphere to be in. You grow some really nice relationships with people that you work with.

I think that really starts in the beginning when we do an intake with them, and we’re calling someone, and we’re getting kind of a background for what’s going on with them at that time. You know, you not only just figure out what happened, what brought them to us, but also, you know, who they are or where they were working, what’s going on with their life. And it’s so much more than just, you know, getting hurt at work. So, when we do get to know then initially, you know, you get to know who they are and that kind of sticks with you. So, it’s always nice when we’re dealing with different clients and I know who this person is. I’ve had many conversations with them and I know what’s going on in their life outside of work, and you know, you start to build a relationship with them like that as well.
